The High Court has interdicted the State from evicting Saviour Kasukuwere from his farm in the Mazowe area, Mashonaland Central.
Kasukuwere, an exiled former Minister, in January got a letter from the Minister of Lands Perrance Shiri advising him that his Corncurpia Farm was being repossessed for purposes of resizing and redistribution.
The matter is largely understood to be politically motivated, as President Mnangagwa’s administration is punishing former President Mugabe’s allies. Other prominent individuals who have had their farms designated for repossession are Jonathan Moyo, PatricK Zhuwao and Jeppy Jaboon.
But on Tuesday Justice Webster Chinhamhora succored the firebrand former Youth Minister and ordered the State not to interfere with Kasukuwere’s property.
He issued the following order:
“1) The respondent be interdicted from interfering with 1st applicant’s farming operating at the remainder of Cornucorpia Farm in the Mazowe District of Mashonaland Central Province measuring approximately 535.94 hectares including requiring them to vacate the said property.
“2) The respondent not enforce the withdrawal of the offer letter in 1st applicant’s favour or do anything to interfere with applicants farming operations in the farm.”
In a latest twist, however, Review & Mail understood that the farm was under siege from State-linked invaders. – R&M
